Prosthetic Hybrid Vacuum and Pin Socket Suspension Systems

Описание к видео Prosthetic Hybrid Vacuum and Pin Socket Suspension Systems

My current system is a hybrid vacuum/pin system. The pin at the end of my liner clicks into the bottom of my socket for a strong physical connection. You can hear it click, and you know it's on. However, the connection isn't quite as solid as other systems. The result is al little pistoning with every step.

With the vacuum seal in conjunction with the pin, there's a little more stability. The pin provides the security, and the vacuum seal gives a more solid direct connection. The way the vacuum works is that there's pump built into my foot that uses my weight as my foot rolls from hell to toe to actively vacuum air out of my socket.

Overall, I really dig my current suspension system. I still have some struggles with the vacuum seal breaking when I bend my knee, but it seems to be caused by my short residual limb rather than any issues with the system itself. With a shorter limb, there's simply less surface area to maintain a constant seal all the way around the inside of my socket.
