In this foundational session, we explore the full landscape of Salesforce Flow, the powerful no-code automation tool designed to streamline processes and elevate user experience across the platform.
We begin by outlining the session agenda, followed by a clear explanation of what Salesforce Flow is, and how it compares to legacy automation tools like Workflow Rules and Process Builder — with a focus on why Flow is the recommended and future-proof tool going forward.
The session dives into all the Types of Flows, including both core types (Screen Flows, Record-Triggered Flows, Autolaunched Flows, Scheduled Flows, Platform Event-Triggered Flows, Subflows) and non-core/product-specific flows like User Provisioning Flow, Contact Request Flow, Cart Async Flow, and Orchestration Flows.
We then explore where flows can be surfaced in the Salesforce ecosystem — including record pages, utility bars, Quick Actions, and even public Experience Cloud sites.
Next, we take a tour of the Flow Builder interface, breaking down each component such as the toolbox, canvas, manager tab, and debug panel, followed by an in-depth review of all available Flow elements, grouped by category: interaction, logic, data, error handling, and orchestration-specific.
To reinforce learning, the session includes a full demo: we build and walk through a real-world Candidate Feedback Form using Screen Flow, showcasing how to collect structured input, create records, and launch flows via Quick Actions.
We conclude with key takeaways, emphasizing the value of using Flow over deprecated tools, and wrap up with a preview of Day 2, where we’ll explore Record-Triggered Flows — enabling powerful, scalable automation that runs before or after data is saved.
