This music does not belong to me, it belongs to The Faceless. I am only using this for entertainment purposes.

DISCLAIMER: This is NOT "ghosting". This means that the performance that you see on the video is the performance that you hear. Video and audio were recorded at the same time.

Big thanks to Danny Tunker who greatly helped me figuring out the ins and outs of this album.

Shout out to Niño Turba for helping me record and edit this video. Check out his YouTube channel:    / @ninoturba

This took me around two months to figure out and another month to practice and get up to speed.

I kept a little journal for this project just to keep track of what I was doing and how the progress was coming along. I should have started it when I started the playthrough itself but, well, it is what it is. Here is an extract of it:

Autotheism Full Album Playthrough Journal

31/10/2022

• I spent approximately one hour and a half playing the first 5 songs of the album (Autotheism 1, 2, 3, Accelerated Evolution, The Eidolon Reality and 2 minutes of 10 Billion Years), then I did it again but spent a bit more time because I made some mistakes and went back to “correct” them. This is just dumb because if I make a mistake, I should just practice that part over and over again until I get it right. During the actual playthrough, I wont be able to go back in time and correct things, and if my objective was playing the thing non-stop, then why stop? That was dumb.

Then I played the songs again but at normal speed. This was not very clever of me, again. If I don’t have the speed yet, why waste time trying to play it? I should be just learning the songs at 80% speed and once the full album is learned, then I can practice speed.
• I will always be amazed at my ability to know what to do and, still, not do it. I excel at that, and I am not even trying to be sarcastic, I really do.
• It goes without saying that this journal was started like a month after I first started learning the very first song.

• 1:43 hours, practicing the songs I already know for 30 minutes, the rest of the time I spent learning 10 Billion Years until the solo.

• I will be learning the solo for 10 Billion Years.
• Danny showed me how III is played. The first chords repetitions at the end of the main riff in part III are fine. The second time this riff is played (and the rest of times it is played), it goes as follows: power chord of the first fret followed by the 4 on E, 5 on A, 7 on D shape that appears after the very last solo. The rest is good.
• He also shared with me the tabs for Accelerated Evolution which should, on itself, answer any question I have about the song.
• The chords for the chorus of Eidolon Reality are, from low to high:
3 6 2 8
3 6 2 8
6 9 5-4-5 11
opened opened 4 8
opened opened 2 9
muted muted 2 8

The rest, we did not have time to figure out but I have a pretty good idea of what it is.
• I spent around 4 hours learning the solo for 10 B.Y. and Hymn of Sanity. I love Wes Hauch’s style of playing. His use of tiny micro bends are the spice of life. That next song, though… It scares me, it is extremely fast. I suppose I will have to spend a lot of time working on fingering and staying relaxed at a very slow tempo. Its my best bet. The good news is that there’s only one more song to go. I am still not sure about some chords on 10 B.Y., specially during the verse. I have to ask Danny.

• At this point in the playthrough, I am going through the solos: Wes’ solos seem to be the main problem due to the detail they require and Michael’s solos require more speed and endurance. I have also been going through the main problematic parts instead of the whole album from start to finish. I hope to soon find the best fingering for all parts that are causing me trouble at the moment so that, once they are found, I can go ahead and start practicing the album as a whole from start to finish like it is a very long song. Eidolon is a bitch, the verse for Acc. Evo. Is just as hard, so is the verse for In Solitude and I bet I am forgetting some other parts that are just as problematic. Another thing that has been bothering me is this pain or tension in the upper left side corner of my back. I do not know what it is, I am trying my hardest to play with good form but it doesn’t matter, the pain remains. I suspect it has something to do with tension in my shoulders when I play and I just do not notice.
