"होंसलें बुलंद हों तो समंदर में भी राह बन जाती है" इसको सही साबित करतीं मुरादाबाद के कुंदरकी कस्बे में रहने वाली इल्मा अफरोज जिनके पिता का देहांत उस वक्त हो गया था जब वो सिर्फ 14 साल की थी, लेकिन पढ़ाई में कामयाबी हासिल करते हुए इल्मा ने कभी हार नहीं मानी| इल्मा और उनकी माँ बार सुन्ना पड़ता था कि लड़की है क्या कर लेगी| पर सबको गलत साबित करते हुए, कस्बे से पढ़ाई करने के बाद इल्मा ने दिल्ली और लंदन में भी पढ़ाई की.

एक किसान की बेटी जिसके सपने थे दुनिया में एक बदलाव लाने के, कुछ हटकर कर जाने के, ये ही वजह थी कि मुरादाबाद से 12वीं की पढ़ाई पूरी करने के बाद सेंट स्टीफेंस कॉलेज दिल्ली आ गई| लंदन, औक्सफोर्ड जैसे बड़ी- बड़ी जगह scholarships पर पढ़ीं और UN के साथ काम किया, लेकिन इस कामयाबी पर पहुंचने के बाद भी दिल को सुकून नहीं मिला. फिर एक दिन इल्मा जी ने अपने मुल्क हिन्दुस्तान वापस लौटने का फैसला किया.और देशभक्ति इल्मा को लंदन, इंडोनेशिया और पेरिस से भी वापस ले आई और यहां आकर उन्होंने वो कर दिखाया जिसका सेहरा देश के चंद लोगों के सिर ही बंधता है| हिन्दुस्तान वापस आने के बाद सबसे पहले Civil Services की तैयारी की. और UPSC 217वीं रैंक के साथ UPSC top किया. आज इल्मा जी एक successful IPS Officer हैं|
