Learning just a few notes on the ukulele fretboard will allow you to play an unlimited number of song melodies. Start with the third string C. Pluck the string without pressing down any fret with the left hand. That's middle C on piano and that is the lowest note on your ukulele if tuned GCEA. Go to the second fret of that string and you have D. E is the second string played open. F is second string, first fret. G is second string, 3rd fret. A is the first string open. B is first string, 2nd fret. C is first string, 3rd fret. D is first string, fifth fret. E is first string, 7th fret. F is 1st string, 8th fret.
