On October 9, 2024, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey, an RWJBarnabas Health facility, hosted its 19th Annual Celebrating Newark: Partners in Progress awards gala, a star-studded event at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.

At this year’s gala a special video premiered highlighting the many innovative community outreach initiatives that Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey has embarked upon and sustained over the years. In attendance were, 1986 NY Giants Captain and Super Bowl XXI Champion George Martin and NBA basketball legend, businessman and entrepreneur Earvin “Magic” Johnson, who delivered the keynote address.
The 2024 Honorees of Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey’s (NBIMC) 19th Annual Partners in Progress Awards Gala were George Martin, NY Giants Captain and Super Bowl XXI Champion (Marc E. Berson Community Award); Monica Slater Stokes, Managing Director, Corporate and Government Affairs, United Airlines (Corporate Award on behalf of United Airlines); Donna Ford, Vice President, SodexoMagic (Corporate Award on behalf of SodexoMagic); and accepting the Clinical Award was accepted on behalf of his colleagues by Dr. Jose R. Bustillo, Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.
