MetroTV, A senior US Border Patrol official has defended a major immigration enforcement operation in Minnesota, insisting it is lawful, targeted, and focused on public safety.

Speaking at a press conference in Minneapolis, Border Patrol commander Greg Bovino said the agency is prioritising individuals who pose serious threats to local communities. He stressed that the operation is neither random nor politically motivated.

Bovino, who has overseen the Trump administration’s large-scale immigration crackdowns in major cities, said more than 10,000 undocumented immigrants have been arrested in Minnesota over the past year.

He added that around 3,000 of those detained in the last six weeks were considered some of the most dangerous offenders, arrested under what authorities call Operation Metro Surge.

The operation has drawn attention as immigration enforcement continues to be a contentious issue across the United States.
