The Jacobson House Native Art Center and Rock the Native Vote presented the Native Blues Festival on Saturday, March 15, 2025. The Native Blues Festival featured an Art Market, three Native Blues Bands, three Native Blues singers, and Native Food Vendors with their delectable food choices. The Native Blues Festival was a day long event that began at noon and ended a bit past 8 pm.

A total of 30 Native Food and Art Market Vendors set up inside the Jacobson House and on the Jacobson House’s big lawn that boarders on the University of Oklahoma’s Reunion Park to the east, Boyd Street to the north, and the Chautaqua Historic District located from the west and onto the south. The Art Market vendors' items ranged from beadwork to artwork in the various art mediums. Each Native food vendor’s culinary skills made it hard to choose which food one wanted to enjoy.

Those that came out to the Native Blues Festival were able to be outside to enjoy the family friendly event by browsing the Pop Up Tent Art Market Vendors and cooked on the spot meal choices fresh from the food vendors. As attendees browsed the Pop Ups and the food vendors, the attendees, as well as the Native Artist and Food Vendors were able to listen to the day long into the evening line up of Blues Bands and Blues Singers.

The three Blues Singers included AJ Harvey, Justice Johnson, and Wewoka Switch Tony. The three Blues Bands included the Cecil Gray Native Blues; the Chebon Tiger Trio and the Redmen Blues Band. Some of the muscians are up and coming and some have been in the Native Blues scene for at least a few decades. Blending the new blood of Blues musicians with the Blues veterans made this 2025 Native Blues Festival a stand out hit Native Blues Festival not matched by no other.

The Blues musicians have joined each other at other Blues venues and Festivals. They have also played with their Bands at the same Blues events. The Cecil Gray Native Blues Band and Terry Tsotigh and his Band have played at the same Blues Festivals. Johnny Johnson has been in the Native Blues scene lending his musical instramental support. Chebon Tiger began his musical career by being the headliner at the Haskell student music concert, “Riffs at the Coffin” held at the Tony Coffin Sports Complex on the Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas.

AJ Harvey, the Redmen Blues Band and Chebon Tiger played a live set at the "Tribute to Jesse Ed Davis”. Jesse Edwin Davis III was a Kiowa born in Norman, Oklahoma to Vivian Mae Saunkeah, Kiowa and Jesse Edwin “Bus” Davis II, Comanche. In the Music World he was known as Jesse Ed Davis. He was valued as a session artist to play his guitar for specific recording sessions and in live performances. He played with BB King, Neil Diamond, Arlo Guthrie, Rod Stewart, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jackson Browne and John Lennon. Jesse Ed played solo guitar for Jackson Browne’s “Doctor My Eyes” and for Bob Dylan’s “Watch The River Flow”. He was a member of the legendary Blues Band, Taj Mahal and the Plastic Ono Band with Yoko Ono and John Lennon. Jesse Ed produced and played guitar on “AKA Graffitti Man with John Trudell. The "Jesse Ed Davis Tribute” occurred on December 1, 2024 at The Standard in Norman, Oklahoma.

The Redmen Blues Band closed out the Native Blues Festival with Terry Tsotigh on Drums; AJ Harvey on vocals and lead guitar; Johnny Johnson on Saxophone and Charlie Haag on Bass Guitar. They presented their original song, “Baby Don’t Do It, Please, Please Don’t Do It”. They were one of the three Blues Singers and Blues Bands that made the Native Blues Festival a successful event. No where else will one be able to attend this type of Native Blues Festival. Every Blues Band member and each Blues singer brought their musical talents, skills and life experiences live on the back porch of the historic Jacobson House that was built in 1930.
