How to apply to direct hiring?

When you apply through direct hiring, you need to apply first to schools. Once meron ka ng job offer, then you can negotiate if you can get H1b visa instead of J1. These can be your reasons:

In H1b, there will be better chance to stay permanently in the school.
H1b doesnt have annual program fees so it is not costly and financially challenging. It is not easy to get this. Only few applicants are offered this kind of visa. Mostly, J1 visa is what they offer. In J1, you can only work and stay for 5 years. It is not bad as long as your goal is to earn and save money.

Big difference between the TWO visas:
📍J1 is 5 years then go home.
📍H1b can stay and be able to get permanent residency. The wait is usually around 3-4 years before they start the Green Card process (this is the most common but not true to all).

📍J1 allows husband to work.
📍H1b does NOT allow spouse to work. The wait time is maybe around 3-4 years. Mahirap ang single income sa US so think about it.
