For the detection and suppression of smuggling activities in the waters of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Customs and Excise Department deploys launches and craft for round-the-clock anti-smuggling patrols, the pursuit and interception of speedboats and motorized sampans engaged in smuggling activities; and conveying Customs officers for rummaging, patrol, surveillance and sea cargo examination duties.
