Описание к видео 1. Installing a New Engine on a Snapper Riding Mower 2. Wiring from Scratch 3. Adding a new Muffler

In this video, I show how to remove an old 8 HP Briggs and Stratton pull start engine (engine number 190702-2190-01) from a 1985 Snapper rear riding mower. (model 28085) Then I show how to install a brand new 17.5 HP electric start engine. It's a Briggs and Stratton Vertical 17.5 HP 500cc INTEK Engine with a 3amp Charging alternator and a 1" x 3-5/32 shaft that I bought on Amazon for a really good price. Engine number (31R977-0043-G1). Next, I show how to rewire a riding mower from scratch. In order to rewire an electric start mower I first had to buy and install a new Solenoid so I went with the Prime Line 7-01861-1. I also had to buy a new ignition switch since the old one did not have enough poles. I went with a 4 position (mower in reverse) 7 Terminal HD starter ignition switch module. The part numbers keep changing so just get a switch with enough terminals. It's also important to get the correct wires. The wires that connect to a battery are a heavy gage wire. I got mine off an old riding mower. You can pick some up at any tractor scrap yard or any auto parts store. I also bought some wire. I chose NAPA 785740 Multi Conductor Primary Wire since it's a 16 gage with many colors so I would not get confused. I also picked up some wire connectors from Napa (784351). I bough ground wire too from Napa (785505). I also got an inline fuse holder for safety (Napa 7823126) and a Bussmann 30 amp fuse. (Napa 782-2021) You should also pick up some electric tape and some wire caps. Next I show how to wire safety switches on a riding mower. I show how to wire the safety seat switch that turns the engine off when you get off of the tractor seat. Again, I got mine off an old mower but you can buy them from any tractor repair store or riding mower store. One wire goes to the magneto and the other goes to ground. Last I show how to install a new Briggs Muffler. (Briggs and Stratton 796000). This is the hard part. The muffler does not come with the bolts you need so I used a stainless steel socket cap screw with coarse thread 5/16-18 x 3/4 long with button heads. I also picked up a socket that fit it. (Husky 3/16 hex bit socket 3/8 drive. You have to get the exact bolts I recommend because there is not enough room between the muffler and the engine to use anything else. I was able to tighten the exhaust using this system. Since the muffler nearly hits the grass catcher bag I had to extend the grass bag away from the muffler using nuts and bolts. I also made my own heat shield from diamond sheet metal. I went with M-D building products internet #301173487. I have been running this riding mower for over a year now and everything works great. I have not had any issues with the grass catcher getting too hot. The engine starts right up. It sure beats pulling a cord over and over. It's also safer because you can start the engine while sitting down rather than pulling a cord and jumping on. One time I pulled the cord and forgot the mower was in gear and I had to chase it! Anyway I hope you enjoy this video. If you have any questions just ask in the comments section below and thanks for watching!
