Carpathian Forest: Norwegian Black Metal Legends

Описание к видео Carpathian Forest: Norwegian Black Metal Legends

Formed in 1992 by Nattefrost and Nordavind, Carpathian Forest is one of Norway’s most notorious black metal bands. Known for their black ‘n’ roll sound, raw lyrics about BDSM, misanthropy, and death, they’ve carved a dark legacy with a unique blend of blaring, clanky basslines and perverse themes.

Origins and Early Days
Originally called Enthrone, the band released Black Winds in 1991 before rebranding to Carpathian Forest in 1992. Their early demo tapes like Bloodlust and Perversion (1992) and Journey Through the Cold Moors of Svarttjern (1993) set the stage for their rebellious sound.

Classic Albums to Know
Carpathian Forest's breakout came with their EP Through Chasm, Caves and Titan Woods (1995). Their first full-length album, Black Shining Leather (1998), was a cult hit that earned a strong following. With Strange Old Brew (2000) and Morbid Fascination of Death (2001), they embraced experimental sounds, blending elements of raw black metal with dark themes. In 2003, they went full throttle with Defending the Throne of Evil, their most melodic album, and in 2006, they returned to their blackened thrash roots with Fuck You All!!!! Caput tuum in ano est.

Hiatus and Resurgence
After parting ways in 2014, Carpathian Forest returned in 2017 with a new lineup and announced a fresh album, Likskue. Despite challenges, they still dominate Europe’s black metal festivals, keeping the spirit alive.
