The Tata Curvv ICE (internal combustion engine) SUV-coupe has been launched with prices starting from Rs 10 lakh. These prices are introductory ex-showroom and will only be valid for bookings made till October 31, 2024.

What is the price of the Tata Curvv?
At the Tata Curvv ICE launch, prices range between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 19 lakh. The Tata Curvv petrol prices begin at Rs 10 lakh and go up to Rs 19 lakh. The diesel variants range from Rs 11.50 lakh to Rs 19 lakh. (All prices are introductory ex-showroom, pan-India).

How many variants are there in the Tata Curvv?
The Tata Curvv ICE is offered in four broad trims:
Smart
Pure+
Creative
Accomplished
Except for the Smart variant, the other three trims further branch out to more variants, which come with additional features.

What features does the Curvv get?
The Tata Curvv’s features list includes a 12.3-inch (31.24 cm) touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.25-inch (26.05 cm) digital driver’s display, and a 9-speaker JBL sound system with subwoofer.
It also gets an air purifier, a panoramic sunroof, multi-colour ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, a 6-way powered driver’s seat, a wireless phone charger and flush-type door handles.
A gesture-controlled powered tailgate, which opens up to 500 litres of boot space, and a blind-spot monitor are also provided.

Updated engine and transmission options
Tata Motors offers the Curvv with three engine options: a 1.2-litre Revotron turbo-petrol engine from Nexon, a new 1.2-litre Hyperion T-GDi turbo-petrol and the Nexon-sourced 1.5-litre diesel.
Here are their respective specifications:
1.2-litre Hyperion T-GDi Turbo-petrol: This is a new engine for Tata Motors that was revealed at the 2023 Bharat Mobility Expo. It produces 125 PS/225 Nm and will be mated to a 6-speed manual and optional dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT). This DCT transmission gets a new e-shifter.
A 1.2-litre Revotron turbo-petrol engine making 120 PS/170 Nm mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed DCT.
1.5-litre Diesel: The Curvv will share its diesel engine with the Nexon, which produces 118 PS and 260 Nm. It is mated with a 6-speed manual transmission or 7-speed DCT.
The Tata Curvv ICE is available with multi-drive modes - Eco, City and Sport.

How safe is the Tata Curvv?
Tata’s reputation for building five-star rated vehicles is well cemented and we expect the Curvv to replicate the same success and score in its crash safety test.
As for features, it comes with plenty as standard, with the list including six airbags, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat mounts and electronic stability control. Higher variants further pack a 360-degree camera with blind view monitoring, front parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system and even ADAS level-2 including, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control and collision avoidance assist.

Should you buy the Tata Curvv?
The Tata Curvv comes at a price point that makes it a rival to the popular compact SUVs. So, if you want a car that has a unique styling package and stands out from conventionally styled compact SUVs, the Tata Curvv can be a good option. The SUV-coupe design is relatively new for the mass-market cars in India and is definitely going to make you look unique on the roads.

Moreover, it builds on the Tata Nexon’s qualities with even more features, including segment-first features like flush door handles and a gesture-controlled powered tailgate. The Tata Curvv SUV-coupe also comes with a new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine option which is more powerful than the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine derived from the Nexon SUV. Notably, the Curvv packs in all of this in a bigger car and asks for a small premium over the prices of the Nexon.

What are my alternatives?
The Tata Curvv locks horns with the Citroen Basalt. As discussed earlier, it also fends off competition from the likes of popular compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigun, Kia Seltos and Skoda Kushaq. Mid-spec variants of midsize SUVs like the Mahindra XUV700, Mahindra Scorpio N, Tata Harrier, and MG Hector can also be opted for.

Other things to consider: You can consider the all-electric version of the Curvv, the Curvv EV, which has already been launched with prices starting from Rs 17.49 lakh (introductory ex-showroom, pan-India). Just like the Nexon EV, the Curvv EV also gets multiple powertrain options offering a claimed range of up to 585 km.
