On January 11, 2025, Waverly Police Officers were called to the Dandy Gas Station, where the manager was reporting a drunk woman was inside the store. Other callers reported that the 22-year-old woman had just crashed into another vehicle at the nearby bowling alley and fled the scene. Officers arrived and interviewed the woman and her friend. The drunk 22-year-old denied being the driver of her vehicle. Because she refused to cooperate in the investigation, she was detained in handcuffs and temporarily placed in the back of the one of the police vehicles. After interviewing her friend and reviewing surveillance footage from the gas station, the woman was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests. During the tests, she became belligerent and hit one of the officers. This caused her to be immediately arrested for Driving Under the Influence and Obstruction.
