When you go inside a music store and look around, Gretsch stands out amongst the best for its price, beauty, workmanship and parts quality.
But when it comes to buying a guitar, for some reason or another, I always end up buying something else.
I found Pristine Limited edition by accident. I was not looking for a guitar, I was looking for a different tone in my mix but for some reason I end up at the Gretsch website. It was love at first site.
To convince myself to buying it, I said, with P90E, It has a different tone, I never had this kind of guitar before and its tone sits between a single coil and a humbucker. Workmanship is immaculate and parts quality are great for the price and if you build this same guitar, a Bixby 70 gold alone, will cost you more or less $200.
This comes with an allen wrench for truss rod adjustment, medium Jumbo Frets.
The headstock is scarf joint and the back body is a two piece mahogany laminate.
There's a slight buzz in the master volume knob when you touch it, this happens when not touching any string or metal but the other knobs are Okay.
I think I've seen this issue before when I built my hollow guitar and I fixed it by grounding the bridge to the pot casing.
Overall to me it's a great guitar, beautiful and well made.
How it sound? Take a listen to this song that I quickly recorded. Its connected directly through AXE IO interface to Reaper DAW, with mainly Amplitube 5, EQ, Compressor, and slight Reverb and delay plugins.
