This is a super easy, wet-on-wet watercolor technique full moon tutorial. Here's what I recommend to make the process super easy:

1. Use the bottom of a bowl, a round palette, or a circle drawer to draw your moon outline.
2. Wet your brush and fill the circle with water.
3. Using ultramarine blue, I dropped wet splashes of paint on the wet surface to create interesting crater textures. Look at your reference image and place craters relatively near where they appear on the photo.
4. Build up layers, darken as you go.
5. If you want, after it is dried, add some white gouache crater marks, impact lines, etc.
6. Use your brush to push out the edges of the craters. Look at your photo, notice how the texture of the moon appears.
7. If you want to add a background like I did, work from the edges inward. I use Payne's Gray, and I mixed with Phthalo Blue and white gouache as I approached the moon to create a glow.

SUPPLIES:
Paints I used: Ultramarine blue, Quinacridone Violet/ or purple of your choice, Pthalo or Intense Blue, and white gouache.

I used Arches, Strathmore, or any other sturdier watercolor paper.

Brushes: I use Escoda Reserva Kolinsky Sable brushes, but any large (size 4 or above) round watercolor brush will work.

Don't forget paper towels and painter's tape if you prefer!
