Winter Techniques for Texoma Striper with Keepin' it Reel Guide Service

This video explains some of the tackle used for deadsticking with jigheads and special hooks provided by RSR lures https://rsrlures.ecwid.com/ Deadsticking is a technique used for striper in the winter at Lake Texoma where you use your trolling motor or drift sock to set a controlled drift with your boat above fish that you see on the graph.
By holding your rod completely still or raising it very slightly to bounce on the bottom, the flukes imitate shad that have been stunned by the cold and can barely move. Striper will generally just hit with a light thump, similar to a crappie but when you set the hook, you will know it’s a striper especially with the super large fish that we are catching now as they fatten up, fill up with eggs and prepare to spawn.
We also demonstrate how to use paddle tails on jigheads to catch Striper as well. When the schooling fish aren’t biting, its time to cover lots of water to find hungry fish and that means trolling with Captain Mack’s A Rigs! The fish were hugging the bottom so we dropped them until they bounced on the bottom, then cranked them up until they were just a couple of feet above the bottom…
