All valuations were correct at the time of broadcast. The artist Ralph Hedley is known for depicting working-class scenes, with this piece focusing on brickmaking. Hedley’s great-grandson brought the painting to the Antiques Roadshow experts, having bought it for around £50 in 1971. Almost 30 years after that purchase, the valuation is much, much more. Hugh Scully and the experts from Antiques Roadshow take a look at some fantastic antiques and the history and stories surrounding them. This clip was filmed in Gateshead in 1999.
