Total War: Warhammer 3 Review(Ish): Great battles, Great Factions, Bad Campaign Mechanics

18.6 hours in the game. I couldn't wait any longer as it does take a while to play every faction and a lot of you fellows will want a plebian opinion on the game.

Apart from the streaming issues, I'ev found that the game ahs run rather well on my machine, I have also found the factions wonderfully unique and their use in combat extremely varied, utilising different strategies and synergies to succeed.

Unfortunately, the campaign mechanics of chaos rifts and general invasions has led to a rather stale campaign that forces you to turtle and rush the campaign objectives to win the race to ursun. This generally leads to "total turtle" and a rather stale and unvaried main campaign that force you to do the same strategy for every faction: Build a middling faction, build 3 armies then turtle the campaign while you do the chaos realms. This makes the game sadly too repetitive for my taste.

Summary: 8/10 for mortal empires as it would make a great expansion
7/10 without mortal empires: The game is fun, but as most of the time is spent on the campaign maps doing macro strategy, the game has massively shot itself in the foot with a restrictive overarching campaign system.
