Till the time the decay of the tooth is away from this nerve bundle which is in the core of the tooth a filling can be done but at this stage there is no pain patient does not feel any sensitivity probably just food is getting stuck but it's not reason enough for the patient to come to a dentist. Decay is progressive it keeps on progressing and once it reaches the nerve bundle which is in the core of the tooth that is when pain starts and that is generally when a patient comes to a dentist and then the dentist cannot do a filling in all probability has to go for a root canal treatment. Now root canal treatment is a skilled process done by an expert dentist. Therefore a patient should not wait for the tooth to pain rather than periodically visit dentists even if food is getting stuck somewhere or if there is any start of sensitivity. Before a root canal is done a patient should keep the area clean, avoid chewing on that area, avoid chewing hard food in that area and brush the teeth after meals. The patient should discuss about his fears to the dentist and understand the procedure. It's a simple procedure but has to be understood. Also share any allergies to any medicines that he has or probably some past experiences. Generally antibiotics painkillers and self-medication should be avoided. Consumption of alcohol is also not recommended before the procedure. Once a root canal treatment has been done it may take about an hour for the local anesthesia effect to be enough. During this one hour we should be careful that we should not bite on hard food or you know we may inadvertently bite onto our cheeks or the lips and injure them. Hard foods must be avoided in that area where the root canal has been done. Normal brushing is advised and it is advised to keep that area clean. A root canal filled tooth will generally go for a well-fitting crown or a cap which is called on top of the tooth to protect the tooth. At Colonel's Dental Spa we specialize in single sitting painless root canal treatment and we don't take more than 15 to 20 minutes to finish off a root canal treatment and immediately after that we take a measurement for the cap which significantly actually reduces the number of visits a patient has to make to the clinic. We take almost about three to four days to fabricate the cap or the crown and then fit it onto the patient's tooth in a single sitting.
