A Flowchart for the Queen_Trailer

Adrienne Alcazar, the vice president of Corporate Quality Control Division, returns to her office after two months in New York, brimming with excitement from a corporate conference. Her enthusiasm is met with trepidation by her staff, who fears she has another ambitious "big idea." Alcazar's previous ideas have ranged from harmless, such as when she attended a Safe Workplace conference in Tokyo and on her return decided to dedicate an entire week to workplace safety appreciation, to beneficial, as when she attended a Financial Management conference in Dubai that led everyone to open a brokerage account opened with a minimal fee of two thousand pesos. But some have led to chaotic office-wide activities, like the ghost hunting activity in Baler. This time, Alcazar's idea is to create flowcharts to improve the division's efficiency. She wants to map out al processes, from auditing suppliers to internal data co lection, identifying value-adding and non-value adding steps, and assessing risks.

The flowcharts will be posted publicly to motivate employees by showing their role in the company's success. The task consumes the day, with numerous revisions and complications. The flowcharts become so detailed and extensive that they cover the entire office floor. Despite the impracticality, Alcazar is pleased with the result, as she can see the intricate details of the flowchart above her.

In summary, Alcazar's initiative to create flowcharts to improve efficiency leads to a complex and overwhelming project that takes over the office space, illustrating the potential downsides of overly ambitious organizational changes.
