Movie Soundtrack Drumming. From Tommy Igoe's, "Groove Essentials 2.0" Global Tour #8

Improvised drum-set solo over a movie soundtrack/orchestral style backing track.

Here I used part of a backing track found in Tommy Igoe's book, "Groove Essentials 2.0," entitled, "Global Tour #8.

This track intrigued me because of its constantly changing tempos and varying degree of dynamics.

The style of music presented here is theatrical in nature, and therefore hosts many orchestral elements such as timpani swells which might be used to support something seen on screen in a movie. It was fun and very challenging to improvise over.

Thanks to Tommy Igoe for writing this book which has helped so many drummers expand their worldview and gain an interest in new musical styles and cultures.
