• Nadeem @ Kallu, an active member of a Mewat-based gang indulging in ATM breakings, arrested.
• One semi-automatic pistol of .32 bore with four live cartridges recovered from him
• The accused was wanted and declared a proclaimed offender in a case of firing on the police party pertaining to PS New Usmanpur, Delhi.
• Further, he was also wanted in six criminal cases, including two ATM breakings in Maharashtra and Karnataka.
• He is a habitual offender and has previously been involved in a total of 64 criminal cases, including murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping, armed robbery/dacoity, extortion, snatching, assault on police teams, ATM breakings, Arms Act, MCOC Act, etc. in Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka, etc.
• He also remained in jail for seven years in a case of MCOCA of the year 2010 pertaining to PS Shahdara, Delhi.
A team of Special Cell, Southern Range, led by Inspr. Shiv Kumar and Inspr. Karamvir Singh, under the supervision of Sh. Attar Singh, ACP/SR, and Sh. Alok Kumar, DCP/SR, Spl. Cell, has arrested an active member of a Mewat-based interstate gang indulging in armed robbery and ATM breakings in Delhi/NCR and other states. The accused, Nadeem @ Kallu (aged 43 years), s/o Nazir Ali, r/o Loni, Ghaziabad, UP, was apprehended on October 17, 2023, from the Sonia Vihar area of Delhi. One semi-automatic pistol of .32 bore with four live cartridges was recovered from the accused at the time of his arrest, and a case under Arms Act has been lodged against him at PS Special Cell in this regard.
INFORMATION AND OPERATION
In pursuit of a constant drive against criminals involved in armed robbery and ATM breakings in Delhi/NCR, efforts were being made by the team of Spl. Cell/SR to identify the members of this gang. On 17.10.2023, specific information was received by the team of Spl. Cell/SR that absconding accused Nadeem @ Kallu of the gang would come to the Second Pusta Road in Sonia Vihar between 8.00 and 9.00 pm. Accordingly, a raiding party led by Inspr. Shiv Kumar was formed, and a trap was laid at the spot. At about 8.30 pm, Nadeem @ Kallu was spotted coming on foot, and he was overpowered by the police team. On search, one semi-automatic pistol of .32 bore with four live cartridges was recovered from him.
BACKGROUND AND CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES
The accused, Nadeem, was presently absconding in a case of firing on the police team reported vide FIR No. 35/2009 u/s 186/353/307/411/482/34 IPC PS New Usmanpur, Delhi. He was also declared a proclaimed offender in this case. Besides, he was also wanted in six criminal cases, including two ATM breakings and stealing cash amounting to Rs. 40 lakh in the states of Maharashtra and Karnataka in the first week of this month. Further, he has been previously involved in a total of 64 criminal cases, including murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping, robbery, extortion, Arms Act, snatching, assault on police teams, ATM breakings, MCOCA, etc. in Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka, etc.
Due to the consistent involvement of the accused Nadeem in various organised crimes in Delhi, a case under the MCOC Act was also lodged against him and his associates vide FIR No. 234/2010 PS Shahadra Delhi. He was also arrested in this case and remained in jail for around 7 years. The accused and other members of this gang are so desperate that they don’t hesitate to open fire on the police if there is the slightest resistance. The accused and his associates opened fire on police teams on four occasions in the areas of PS Tilak Marg, Nand Nagri, New Usmanpur, and Bawana.
Nadeem has been indulging in crime in Delhi/NCR for the last 21 years. He has disclosed that he is not appearing in the courts in Delhi in various pending trial cases and that the concerned courts have initiated proceedings to declare him a proclaimed offender in more than five criminal cases. He has also divulged that he was arrested by PS Yavat (Pune) police in the month of August 2023 in a case of vehicle theft, but he provided his wrong name and address to the Pune police. He also succeeded in getting bail in this case.
Further interrogation of the accused is in progress to identify the other members of this gang.
