Sian from Kittenish Behaviour on Teaching Bag-Making & Growing a Creative Community

Welcome to the Bag Makers Sew-Ciety Podcast! In this episode, I chat with Sian from Kittenish Behaviour, a bag-making and sewing enthusiast and teacher. Sian’s NCW (Necessary Clutch Wallet) tutorial was the starting point for many in the bag-making world, including yours truly I wouldn't be here without it.

Sian talks about her first bag-making experience, repurposing fabric from a dress, and how that led her into teaching and organizing bag-making retreats. What started as small, two-day events has now become week-long retreats on the Isle of Wight, where sewists from around the world come together to learn, create, and connect.

We dive into Sian’s love for teaching and her favorite bag patterns from designers like Swoon and Lavender & Twine. She shares why handbags are a favorite project among retreat attendees and how she’s built a supportive community where people bond over their shared passion for sewing.

We also get a glimpse of Sian’s upcoming April/May retreat, which happens to coincide with her birthday, and hear some fun anecdotes from her experiences along the way.
