Join us for our first, online "Impacts Hour" with author, entrepreneur, and psychologist Per Espen Stoknes, where we will explore the psychology of climate change communication and how we can all talk about global warming in a way that creates action and solutions, not further inaction and despair.

Per Espen Stoknes is a psychologist with PhD in economics, based in Oslo, Norway. He is the head of the Norwegian Business School’s executive program on green energy and co-chairs the Center for Climate Strategy. He previously worked as a clinical and organizational psychologist and adviser for scenario planning for a wide spectrum of international businesses, government agencies and nonprofit institutions. He has founded several clean-energy companies in Norway and elsewhere. Mark Schapiro is an award-winning journalist who investigates the interplay between the environment, economics and politics. His most recent book was just published, in paperback: THE END OF STATIONARITY: Searching for the New Normal in the Age of Carbon Shock (https://www.amazon.com/End-Stationari..., probes into the economic and political changes underway in the face of climate disruption, and the search for a post-carbon equilibrium (an updated and revised version of the book CARBON SHOCK).

His work is published in Harper's, Mother Jones, Newsweek, The Nation, Yale 360, and elsewhere; and he has worked as a correspondent with the PBS newsmagazine FRONTLINE/World. He is a Lecturer at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism; and was formerly senior correspondent at the Center for Investigative Reporting. Previous books include EXPOSED: The Toxic Chemistry of Everyday Products and What’s at Stake for American Power, which reveals the health, economic and geo-political implications of toxic chemicals.
