"Shagaru Magala" is an Elder Dragon and the fully matured form of Gore Magala, first appearing in Monster Hunter 4. Upon molting, its black, ragged exterior is shed to reveal radiant golden scales and sharp, darkened horns. Once-hidden eyes beneath its mask-like horns are now fully visible, giving it a godlike presence. Its wings, now whole and symmetrical, shimmer with gold and resemble a celestial star when spread—an appearance fitting its mythical aura.

Though visually divine, this creature is ferocious and unrelenting in combat. Unlike its juvenile form, it no longer relies on scales to detect prey. Instead, it unleashes a far more volatile strain of the Frenzy Virus through explosive waves, beams, and breath attacks. Pools of scales scattered during battle erupt violently after a delay, and it can call forth devastating virus pillars from the earth. Every movement is imbued with enhanced power, speed, and precision, often chaining aerial dives with wingarm slams to overwhelm even apex predators like Seregios and Barioth.

Despite its terrifying power, Shagaru Magala exhibits an unsettling calm when not engaged, calmly assessing threats before launching into relentless pursuit. Its default aggression mimics an enraged Gore Magala and only escalates further when provoked. In its frenzied state, random virus eruptions detonate across the battlefield, blanketing the area in chaos. Its crushing pin attack—grabbing a hunter with a wing claw and hurling them away—underscores its savagery.

The Frenzy Virus now seeps constantly from its body, infecting large territories like Heaven's Mount. Its purpose is twofold: to ward off rivals and to maintain dominance for future generations of Gore Magala. The corruption spreads farther and faster than ever, capable of warping entire ecosystems and even twisting monsters like Zinogre and Iodrome into frenzied killers. Only death stills the virus aura it emits. With breakable horns, wingarms, and wings, and a severable tail, this majestic terror leaves no doubt—it is the apex form of madness made flesh.
