You need to have root permissions to do this, and also have a custom recovery installed like ClockworkMod Recovery. I used ROM Manager to flash the latest version of clockworkmod in this video and used it to boot into recovery mode. The phone I used here was the Samsung Galaxy J2, but this method works for all Android phones.
When you’re rooting, flashing custom ROMs, and otherwise playing with Android’s system, there are a lot of things that can go wrong. Before you start, you should know how to back up and restore your phone with the TWRP recovery environment.

I'm demonstrating this on my rooted sumsung galaxy j2, but the process should be very similar for other rooted Android devices with a custom recovery installed.
