The Extract by Mask tool lets you clip a raster dataset using a mask (either a raster or a feature layer like a shapefile or polygon). It’s commonly used to isolate regions of interest (like cities, watersheds, or ecological zones) from larger raster datasets (e.g., elevation, land cover).
Requirements
A raster layer (input raster to clip).

A mask layer (either polygon feature or raster mask defining the area to extract).
Notes & Best Practices
The mask does not have to be the same resolution or projection as the input raster, but it's good practice to ensure alignment for accuracy.
If using a feature layer (like a shapefile), it will be converted internally to a raster during processing.
The output raster will have NoData values outside the mask.
