The majority of Portland Public High Schools do not plan on having a pep band performance during sports games this year.

Band directors from Cleveland, Franklin, Grant, Jefferson, Lincoln, Roosevelt, and Ida B. Wells sent a letter to their respective administration and athletic directors in early August, saying the decision is the result of a lack of clarity around their Extended Responsibility compensation.

Band directors involved said their pay schedule for after school activities does not reflect what their position requires.
