This extension basically gives you access to a number of different dynamic component options for Kitchen and cabinet modeling. These can be extremely helpful for designing and creating any room that requires cabinets.
The way it works is fairly simple – you open up the SketchThis window, then you select the kind of cabinet you want. Once you’ve selected it, click on it to bring it in to your model. This is very similar to bringing in components to the 3D warehouse.
Once you’ve brought your cabinet into your model, you can then make changes to it within the dynamic components option of SketchUp. You can change everything from width, to height, to depth, to number of drawers, doors, etc.
In addition, by going in to the doors section, you can also adjust the kind of doors included on your casework by selecting a new door type, then clicking on your dynamic component. I have noticed that this doesn’t always work super well with the doors on our drawers.
There’s also a library of crown and base molding profiles that you can use to extrude within your models.
There’s a few different sink models that you can bring in as well – these seem to be cut face components, so you’re going to have to mess around with your counter a bit to get them to mount properly.
There’s also a series of materials that you can download and sample with the materials tool, then apply them to your cabinets. There’s a collection of wood materials for your cabinets, countertop materials, and also flooring materials. These can definitely be helpful when texturing your model.
Finally, there’s a few different pull options that you can swap out as well – you can either swap out all pulls in your model at once, or you can adjust them individually.
