Building upon my 2009 paper, A National Economic Framework for Intellectual Property-Based Commerce, published by the Center for Advanced Technologies (ISBN-10: 0980019915), over the next six months, Ocean Tomo Chief Executive Jim Malackowski will explore growing techno-nationalism and present the need for a global Intellectual Property (IP) market to reward innovation, optimize technology transfer, and act as a force tilting towards techno-globalism. This is my story based on personal experience starting as a young patent valuation analyst and extending through early efforts to create IP based structured investment products, public patent auctions, equity indexes and now a modern IP marketplace. In the book I will share insights from both success and failure. I will include a discussion of improvements to prior market models, including the Intellectual Property Exchange International, Inc., incubated by Ocean Tomo more than a decade ago.
