Описание к видео Black Cultural Archives: Introducing Samuel Coleridge-Taylor with Dr Ayshah Johnson

October is Black History Month which is a great opportunity to explore and celebrate the lives of important figures from Black British history.

Join Dr. Ayshah Johnston as she introduces Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, the nineteenth-century composer and conductor, who continues to inspire musicians today. Bring along any questions you may have!

🎶 Samuel Coleridge-Taylor was one of the most celebrated musicians of his time, achieving international recognition while still in his twenties. Best remembered for the success of his choral piece Hiawatha’s Wedding Feast, he was also closely connected with the early Pan-African movement and became a prominent figure in both Britain and the United States, inspiring audiences and musicians alike.

✊🏾 This session is part of Black History Month – this October, we're hosting a variety of sessions from Black History walks to poetry writing workshops - we invite you to celebrate Black culture with us!
