2009 Glass Masters Series Shane Fero

Описание к видео 2009 Glass Masters Series Shane Fero

Shane Fero's generous spirit has influenced the contemporary glass community through his artwork, teaching and volunteering. Shane's leadership qualities and his love of giving back led to him serving as the president of the Glass Art Society for two terms.

Shane's work is influenced by his love of philosophy, nature, ancient Egyptian mythology, surrealism, contemporary dance and a fascination with his dreams.

Shane has broken away from traditional vessel decoration techniques to use furnace glass in free-form designs. He has developed a fresh approach by adding colored shards and glass enamels to the hot, bulbous shapes, which moved him beyond the standard linear and line-and-dot designs. He brings sophisticated techniques to his glass work, such as using acid etching to enhance colors, acrylic paint and fused gold leaf. He also uses sandblasting to add dimension and visual information to the surface.

Watch as Shane demonstrates at Salem Community College's 2009 International Flameworking Conference.
