Over the past decade, Pakistan has experimented with a number of laws which have had little impact on the nation’s battle against terrorism. From the Protection of Pakistan Act 2014 to the establishment of Military Courts, Pakistan’s experiments are clearly unsustainable in a democratic country.

For effective reforms, Pakistan needs to improve its regular Anti-Terrorism Court system through improving the capacities of police, prosecutors, and judges, drastically improve court infrastructure and resources, and develop research based legislative solutions.
