The Easiest and Cheapest Way To Clean a Kettle

If you use a kettle for boiling water, either an electric kettle or stovetop kettle, over time, it will get a white, chalky residue on the inside. This buildup is completely normal and comes from minerals in the water that get left behind when you boil water. The more you use the kettle, the more buildup you will get. It also depends on the hardness of your water.

It’s safe to drink, but may affect the taste of the water and you’ll get floating white particles in it.

Distilled white vinegar is very cheap and effective to clean it with hardly any effort. Pour in 1/3 – ½ of your kettle’s maximum capacity with vinegar, then fill up the rest with water. Bring it to a boil, pour out the water and your kettle will be sparkling clean again.

I love this method because it’s so easy and you don’t need to do any scrubbing or use harsh chemicals.

If your kettle has a lot of buildup you may need to do this more than once, or use more vinegar.

Boil a kettle of water one more time and pour it out before ingesting the water again.

This also works with your coffeemaker or anything else that needs to be descaled. Vinegar is an awesome cleaner for many things.
