HOW TO STRIP CLOTH DIAPERS 3 WAYS & COMPARISON | ALINA GHOST

STRIPPING CLOTH NAPPIES WITH BORAX, BLEACH & BICARBONATE OF SODA
I wanted to be cautious so I decided to try stripping my cloth nappies in three different ways to decide which one is the best one for me to so the rest of my collection. I first tell you what I did for each way and then talk through the comparisons or similarities for smell, touch, and stains. Finally I test out the absorbency to see if there's any difference since stripping the nappies.
1) BORAX (substitute)
I added 2 lids of Borax powder and 1 lid of normal washing liquid into hot water in a bath tub. I mixed this before adding cloth inserts and nappies. I left it overnight and the drained the water and rinsed each individual item that was in the bath. I then added the batch into the washing machine for a rinse and spin.
2) BLEACH
For half an hour only, I left some inserts and diapers in COLD water with a cup of bleach. I made sure to rinse each individual item with hot water and thoroughly before putting it for numerous washes in the washing machine. Rinse and spin as well as wash in a normal cycle until the smell of bleach goes away!
3) SODA, SALT & THEN VINEGAR
I put some inserts and cloth nappies into the washing machine with a 1/4 cup of bicarbonate of soda and same amount of salt. A normal wash for this was fine for me. I then did another rinse and spin but added vinegar this time. Don't put vinegar together with the soda and salt. I like that this option shows how to strip nappies without bleach.

I found bleach was great for stains and improving the colouring, whereas I preferred the 'kindness' of the soda wash as well as the smell which was much improved and fresh. Borax was very similar to the soda option so I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Borax powder mix actually contained soda too. I enjoyed doing this experiment and I hope it's useful to you all.
