Ford Focus MK1 Overheating - Symptoms & Fix

Symptoms - Engine shows signs of overheating at speed and/or going up hills.

ie whenever the engine is under some sort of load.

As if the heating capacity of the cooling system is at the limit.

Solution - Ford have a service bulletin to cure this problem.

Includes various things but I believe the only part you probably need is a low temperature thermostat.

ie a thermostat that operates from 74 Celsius until 84 Celsius.

NOT a thermostat that operates from 84 Celsius and above.

In this case, with the thermostat, the engine ran normally.

And absolute nightmare of a problem, that we were trying to solve for days. Hopefully you wont have to go through the same process!
