KVCC now requires all faculty to use Brightspace for grading students at least once weekly as part of a new retention strategy. This video is broken into chapters to help you focus your learning on the aspects necessary for your unique gradebook needs.

KVCC is requiring all faculty to use Brightspace to upload a syllabus and grade students through the Brightspace grade book at least weekly as part of a retention effort. This requirement will mean all faculty must set up a gradebook and grade students using that grade book. Setting up a gradebook can be simple or complex--it depends on the unique needs of your course design. If you have questions, contact instructional design. We're here to help.

This video walks you through the basic elements of setting up a Brightspace Gradebook. As of Fall 2024, faculty at KVCC will be required to enter grades into Brightspace as we switch from our current Student system to another system. Additionally, we are adding a retention software that uses Brightspace to help ensure our learners stay on-track to complete course work and graduate. This means we will all be required to have a both a syllabus and use the gradebook in Brightspace. Here learn Part 1, the basic set-up for any gradebook. The next video will go into detail about how to set up you unique gradebook.

As of 9/30/2024, our requirements include: maintaining a current syllabus and using the Brightspace gradebook to grade all student activity at least once weekly. We are CONSIDERING as a collaborative decision the possibility of also opening our courses early (therefore locking down any content we don't want students to access prior to the course's official start date) moving forward to help with our retention efforts.
