- The 1:2 brewing ratio at 30s brew time is just a guideline.
- You do not need distribution or WDT tools, it just adds consistency.
- Make sure to tamp as level as possible. An uneven tamp will lead to uneven extraction.
- Dial in your coffee daily, when switching beans to a different roast date, when switching to another bean and when something feels off. Coffee changes over time so your recipe should too.
- With a naked portafilter, pull espresso into a container before transferring it into the cup to minimize splashes onto the cup.
- You can use any coffee beans, not just "espresso" branded beans.
- Always tweak your recipe according to its taste and not how it looks. If it tastes sour, extract more. If it tastes bitter, extract less.
