Blencathra via Sharp Edge | Honister Slate Mine - Via Ferrata | A Day in the Lakes

This was a wee trip across the border to meet up with Paul and Barry. Less than 2 hours of heading South I was in Lake District., the project, to tackle Blencathra's Sharp Edge. Having previously met the lads earlier in the year when we ended up reneging on Sharp Edge due to weather, this was a second attempt on a fine Spring day.

Why stop there though, if one is crossing the border, why not make a proper day of it, I suggested we give Honister Slate Mines Via Ferrata a try in the morning before heading to Blencathra.

Plans made, how would the day unfold?



** Note - We were told that during the Via Ferrata we couldn't take pictures with our phones in case they fell. What I was unaware of though, is I would have been okay filming on the 360 camera I was given a loan of. Such a shame, as by the time I found this out, the main Via Ferrata was finished.

Sad, as the footage would have been excellent. We were allowed to purchase pictures that the Slate Mine Guide had taken (On his phone!).
