Aphra Behn was an incredible author, groundbreaking for her time and important to the history of literature, yet she remains an obscure reference in mainstream culture. Something I didn't mention in the video, but probably should have is that a lot of her childhood is unknown because there was just not good documentation, especially for women, at that time. But once she became a spy, there were records of her, which is why historians have figured out what little they do know now.
