NEW STREAMING RULES
The government has told streaming platforms they'll need to produce more Australian-made movies and TV shows under new rules that are set to come in next year. But some of them aren't so happy about it. You see, yesterday the government announced a new plan to support our creative industries, including more local content quotas. That means streaming giants like Netflix and Disney+ will be forced to create more Aussie content. People in the film industry here are pretty excited about it because the change could bring more work down under. But as expected, the platforms aren't so keen. They say they already follow some existing local content rules, and introducing more rules would just get confusing. There are also questions around what makes Australian content, well, Australian. For example, big studios like Marvel often shoot films here, but their films don't normally reflect Aussie culture. So there are a few things to work out. But it's safe to say things on TV are probably gonna start feeling closer to home.

CRICKET AWARDS
What do you get when you mix a room full of Aussie cricketers and some fancy outfits? The Australian Cricket Awards of course! Last night the best of the best gathered in Sydney for a big ceremony, and the winners were familiar favourites. Beth Mooney claimed her second Belinda Clark Award following an epic year with the bat. While Steve Smith etched his name into the record books alongside Ricky Ponting and Michael Clarke, winning a fourth Allan Border Medal.

BONZA LAUNCH
Australia officially has a new airline! It's called Bonza and its first flight took off from the Sunshine Coast to the Whitsundays earlier today. It will fly to 17 destinations and each plane has its very own unique, Aussie name, including Shazza, Bazza and Sheila.

RADIOACTIVE CAPSULE
You've heard of finding a needle in a hay stack, but what about finding a tiny dangerous radioactive capsule somewhere in Western Australia? A small radioactive capsule has been lost somewhere in WA. It's about the same size as a tic-tac, and somewhere along its 1,400km journey from a mine to a storage facility it disappeared. Officials are conducting a big search using specialised equipment. It's gonna take weeks to finish searching the area but even then, there's no guarantee it'll be found, but what if someone was to find it? And for good reason, experts reckon it could be radioactive for hundreds of years and getting too close could cause serious illness. So while the search continues, the WA government is weighing up tougher rules so things like this don't happen in the future.

COSTUME SWIMMERS
This water is as cold as your fridge. At 3.5 degrees Celsius, more than 1000 swimmers in Germany braved the conditions to take part in this traditional winter swimming event. This is the 52nd year it's been held, on the river Danube. It stretches out for 4 kilometres, and everybody likes to get dressed up and make cool floats.

ANCIENT STATUE FOUND
Now, to something a little older. This statue was found in Rome, while repairs were being carried out on the sewage system. It's believed to be around 2,000 years old, dating back to the Roman Empire. And while it looks a bit like Hercules, archaeologists aren't 100% sure who it's meant to be. But they reckon it must have been an emperor, or someone quite important back then.

HORSE CLONE
And finally, to this horse in the US! It's an endangered species, the Przewaski horse from Mongolia. It's all part of a special breeding program at San Diego Zoo. And this one's actually a clone, made from the DNA of a horse which has been frozen for 42 years.
