Many COVID-19 eviction protections ended March 31, 2022

Beginning April 1, 2022, there are no eviction protections for tenants who are unable to pay rent that is due on or after this date. Tenants must pay their rent each month or risk being evicted.

Tenants who submitted rent relief applications by March 31, 2022 cannot be evicted for unpaid rent through that date while their application is pending.

As a reminder, most tenants have other eviction protections under City and State laws.

If you receive documents from your landlord that look like Court papers or an eviction notice, don’t move out! It is important to understand your legal rights and responsibilities and what resources might be available before making such a serious decision.
