No New Licenses for Liquor Shops: Assam Police

Sonitpur SP Bedang Bhushan Saikia and Deputy Commissioner Kulen Sharma informed that the government has no plans to revive the process of issuing licenses to wine and alcohol shops in Assam. Addressing a press conference in Sonitpur the top police and district administration officials said that people should remain careful and alert not to get duped by unscrupulous people who might promise a license in lieu of a lot of money. According to reports there are certain people who are involved in such activities. The government had put on hold issuance of licenses for wine and alcohol shops since 2007. Officials of excise department was also present at the conference.
