India & Africa Relations | Envisioning a New World Order

Africa is playing an increasingly significant role in global governance today, and India – one of the prominent voices of the Global South- has been advocating reforming multilateral institutions to make the voice of the Global South stronger. Undoubtedly, India’s partnership with African countries will be crucial towards "reformed multilateralism”. The continent not only constitutes the largest voting bloc at the UN General Assembly with 28% of the total votes, but it also makes up a sizable section of the global south. Therefore, a strong India-Africa partnership is essential to ensure that the Agenda of the global south gets due cognizance. With more aligned goals and strategies, India and Africa are poised to shape the international agenda and champion the causes of peace, prosperity, and sustainability. This panel discussion will deliberate on Africa’s increasing role in different multilateral forums, India-Africa relations, and the necessity for India-Africa partnership for a changing world order.
