Ever wonder how trains know where to go at lightning speed? Well, here's some exciting news from the railway world! A consortium, including Hitachi Rail and Sistem, just won a massive 126.5 million euro contract. They're upgrading the signaling and traffic management on a section of Spain's Madrid-Extremadura high-speed line. This project focuses on the Talayuela–Plasencia section, about 70 kilometers long. They'll install all the smart tech, from signals to train protection systems and even a remote control center called CTC. This will also include the European Train Protection System, ERTMS Level 2, making train travel even safer and more efficient. This is all part of a huge, 3.8 billion euro project to build the entire high-speed line. Once complete, it'll connect Madrid to Extremadura with modern rail travel!
