Fear from occasional passing missiles looms over her and her children, and she prays for the war to end soon. Despite the dangers, she cooks delicious local meals, washes her children’s clothes with her worn hands in the freezing cold, feeds the chickens and her dog Charlie, and teaches her children to help with household chores.
Fariba also climbs to the roof to spread plastic sheets and secure them with stones, preventing the rain from leaking into their fragile shelter. Exhausted but determined, she prepares the evening table and shares a simple Iftar meal with the cameraman, who is also observing the fast. Later, she lights the fireplace, warming the room so her children can sleep safely and comfortably in the freezing mountain night.
