Verse 1:
In Edessa, Ma'nu's son so bold,
Ukkama named for leprous skin,
His wisdom grew as years unfold,
Yet sickness sore did plague within.
Verse 2:
To Jerusalem his men did wend,
Where Christ's great deeds they did behold,
Ananias wrote with faithful pen,
Of miracles and wonders told.

A letter sent to Jesus dear,
Inviting Him to Edessa's wall,
The Lord replied with words of cheer,
A disciple He would send to call.
Verse 4:
"Good Physician," Abgar wrote with zeal,
"Your healings done without an herb,
With word alone You make them well,
The blind, the lame, the sick acerb."
Verse 5:
"Come You to Edessa, I pray,
My city small, yet noble too
Here you shall find a peaceful stay,
Safe from those who pursue You."

Verse 6:
The Saviour's answer swift did come,
"Blessed are you who have believed,
Though sight of Me you have had none,
By faith alone you are relieved."
Verse 7:
"My work on earth I must fulfill,
Then to My Father I ascend,
A disciple I shall send at will,
Your maladies and woes to mend."
Verse 8:
"Your city shall be ever blessed,
No foe shall overcome its wall,
In Edessa My Name shall rest,
And grace upon your people fall."

Did heal Abgar of leprous bane,

To Tiberius he wrote with zeal,
Of Christ's divinity to tell,
With neighboring kings he did appeal,
That all in Jesus's love might dwell.
Verse 11:
When Addai came to spread the Word,
Abgar's realm did Christian grow,
His city blessed by our Lord,
Where faith and love did overflow.
