Comparing // Langstroth vs Langstroth Long-Top Bar Beehives

Описание к видео Comparing // Langstroth vs Langstroth Long-Top Bar Beehives

Welcome to our latest video, where we'll be discussing the difference between the Lengstroth and Lengstroth Long bee hives. As a beekeeper, I recently built a Lengstroth Long hive in anticipation of our new bee colony, and I want to share my experience and insights with you.

First, let's talk about the differences between these two types of hives. The traditional Lengstroth hive is a rectangular box with removable frames that hang vertically. In contrast, the Lengstroth Long hive is a longer and narrower box with horizontal frames. Both hives have their advantages and disadvantages, and it's important to choose the right one for your specific needs.

In this video, I'll go through the process of building the Lengstroth Long hive and explain why I ultimately prefer it over the traditional Lengstroth hive. We'll also talk about the importance of using foundation-less frames, which allow bees to build their own natural comb without the use of plastic foundation.

As a bonus, we'll take a look at our neighbor's Lengstroth hive, which uses plastic foundation. We'll discuss the pros and cons of this approach and why we prefer to use foundation-less frames in our own hive.

By the end of this video, you'll have a better understanding of the differences between the Lengstroth and Lengstroth Long hives, as well as the benefits of using foundation-less frames. Join us as we explore the fascinating world of beekeeping and learn how to choose the right hive for your needs.
