The child reported being punched, having their hair pulled, and being struck with an extension cord by an adult guardian after refusing to clean their room. Officers observed visible marks consistent with the child's account. During an interview, the guardian expressed frustration over the child's refusal to clean her room, admitting to a "scuffle" and acknowledging that "welts like that from a cord" resulted from an argument over the cord. The guardian claimed to have called authorities first to report the child "bolted out the door" after their altercation, stating they were "not trying to hide anything." Following further investigation and consultation with supervisors and child welfare representatives, the adult was placed under arrest for felony child abuse, and the child was safely relocated.
